The Caring Connection Program is a partnership between Blessed Sacrament Parish and Blessed Sacrament School that brings parish volunteers into our elementary classes. Caring Connection volunteers come into the classrooms to read or tell stories and accompany the classes to Mass. This year we have five volunteers who have been with us since the program began twelve years ago. Over time, the Caring Connection volunteers and teachers have become good friends as they work together each year.
This program is a wonderful opportunity for the students to interact with a parishioner. The students make cards for their volunteer, and often work on special projects such as books or poems to be given to their special friends. The children also look forward to hearing stories from them. This program has helped students to think and care about other people and to experience the love of others outside of their immediate families.
